Meet the Trainers

John Kongsvik earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from The School for International Training. His 16 years of experience includes work as a teacher and a trainer in the Americas, South East Asia, the South Pacific, and West Africa.

A resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, John provides educational consulting and professional development services for a wide range of institutions around the world through his company, TESOL Trainers.

John has been involved in the SIT TESOL Certificate Course since 1998 and has directed the Santa Fe site since 2000.   Over the past 10 years, hundreds of people have received their TESOL Certificate at his site.

He has designed and delivered workshops for large and small institutions. He works extensively with US school districts that serve high populations of English language learners.  He has spent the past five years working within the Navajo Nation and supporting K-12 teachers through training workshops, coaching, and modeling.

In addition to designing a TESOL Endorsement Program for Santa Fe Community College, he has also given many workshops to university faculty in the USA and abroad on such topics as Working With English Language Learners, Best Practices for College Instructors, and Intercultural Communication.
