If you would like to send individual teachers, administrators, and coaches to attend one of our remote professional development workshops, you've come to the right place.  TESOL Trainers' experiential approach to teacher training makes remote PD interactive, innovative, and inspiring.  We offer a number of professional development topics for novice and experienced K12 educators who want to take teaching and learning to the next level.

The Principles and Practices of TESOL

TESOL Trainers has created a highly interactive experience that helps teachers better understand the challenges English learners face in the content area classroom and gives teachers scores of strategies to help teachers set their students up for success.  By the time it's over, you will:

The Principles and Practices of SIOP I

This remote workshop gives teachers a solid look at the SIOP framework and how it is used in K12 schools to plan, teach, and reflect on learning. 

Through a series of model lessons and interactive experiences participants will discover:
  • This history of SIOP and its usage in K12 education 
  • The SIOP framework: its 8 components and 30 features
  • How SIOP supports all learners, especially English learners
  • The relationship of SIOP to the four domains of language: speaking, listening, reading, writing
  • What SIOP looks like in the content-area classroom: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies
  • SIOP strategies to connect students to the content
  • SIOP strategies to connect students to the language
  • SIOP strategies to connect students to the one another
In addition, participants will take time to discuss how SIOP can be integrated into their specific teaching contexts.

The Principles and Practices of Vocabulary Teaching

The Principles and Practices of Teaching Vocabulary is a powerful look at what vocabulary teaching and learning are all about. This PD examines what it means to learn vocabulary and how that informs us on the way vocabulary should be taught.

By looking at model lessons, participating teachers discover the four components of vocabulary and learn ways to get students to interact with vocabulary in meaningful ways.
