TESOL Trainers' Remote Professional Development

If you would like to send individual teachers, administrators, and coaches to attend one of our remote professional development workshops, you've come to the right place.  TESOL Trainers' experiential approach to teacher training makes remote PD interactive, innovative, and inspiring.  We offer a number of professional development topics for novice and experienced K12 educators who want to take teaching and learning to the next level.

Scaffolding Students into Success

Scaffolding is one of the most important skills a teacher can use to make sure all students have an equitable chance of achieving academic success. While the process of scaffolding is simple, it is often misunderstood. The Gradual Release of Responsibility provides teachers and students with a step-by-step means of breaking down any lesson into manageable chunks.  When a lesson is properly scaffolded, students develop greater competence, higher levels of confidence, and a stronger willingness to take risks.

Understanding what scaffolding is, why it is important, and how to incorporate it in any context is what teachers will gain from this engaging and empowering remote workshop.
TESOL Trainers has created a highly interactive experience that helps teachers better understand what scaffolding is, why it's important, and how to incorporate it into any lesson.  By the time it's over, you will:
  • Develop an understanding of the principles of scaffolding.
  • Use the Gradual Release of Responsibility to scaffold learning.
  • Acquire the ability to break any lesson down into manageable chunks.
  • Engage students 90-100% of the time with bite-sized steps.
  • Integrate the GRR into any context.
  • Connect students to language, content and one another.
  • Transform students into risk takers.
  • Promote learner confidence and competence.
  • Use scaffolding to increase learning equity.
This PD is perfect for any educator, administrator, or instructional coach who wants to gain a clearer understanding of what scaffolding is and why it is so important to the success of all students, especially English learners.
