TESOL Trainers' Remote Professional Development

If you would like to send individual teachers, administrators, and coaches to attend one of our remote professional development workshops, you've come to the right place.  TESOL Trainers' experiential approach to teacher training makes remote PD interactive, innovative, and inspiring.  We offer a number of professional development topics for novice and experienced K12 educators who want to take teaching and learning to the next level.
SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) is a K12 framework that can support educators in planning, teaching, and reflecting on their lessons.  It was originally designed to help educators support English learners though the creators discovered the positive impact it had on all learners. Participants who attend this remote training session walk away being able to implement SIOP strategies and techniques that set all students up for success.

The Principles and Practices of SIOP I

This remote workshop gives teachers a solid look at the SIOP framework and how it is used in K12 schools to plan, teach, and reflect on learning.

Through a series of model lessons and interactive experiences participants will discover:
  • This history of SIOP and its usage in K12 education
  • The SIOP framework: its 8 components and 30 features
  • How SIOP supports all learners, especially English learners
  • The relationship of SIOP to the four domains of language: speaking, listening, reading, writing
  • What SIOP looks like in the content-area classroom: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies
  • SIOP strategies to connect students to the content
  • SIOP strategies to connect students to the language
  • SIOP strategies to connect students to the one another
In addition, participants will take time to discuss how SIOP can be integrated into their specific teaching contexts.
SIOP II Remote PD
This PD is perfect for any K-12 teacher, administrator, or instructional coach who wants a solid understanding of what SIOP is and how it can be used to support learning in the virtual classroom.
